York is a Volunteer Fire & Rescue Brigade, designated FRSWA Station 176. The town of York is most commonly known for its Motor Museum, and as one of the 3 major towns along the Avon River (along with Northam and Toodyay), located around 100km inland from Perth.
York Fire Brigade has been serving the community since 1910. In 1911, the brigade took possession of the former Town Hall. Building commenced on the 18th March 1897 as the original council chambers and was handed to the brigade in 1911 when the new Town Hall was completed. The station still stands and is in use as a Community Centre. The brigade moved out of this building in 1988.
York FRS are currently running an Isuzu 2.4 Urban Tanker (UT32) and a Toyota Landcruiser Light Tanker along with a Rescue Trailer (RT-24)
